Women’s Arnis: Philippines takes gold; Myanmar, Vietnam shared silvers

December 2, 2019 – The Philippines earn four gold medals while Myanmar and Vietnam take two silvers each in the women’s division of padded stick category of Arnis held at the Angeles University Foundation Gym.

Sheena Del Monte added a gold medal for the Philippines in the bantamweight division after defeating Vietnamese Nguyen Thi Huong.

Ross Ashley Monville defeated Myanmar’s Aye Moe Moe in the lightweight division to give the Philippines a gold medal.

It was another Philippines-Myanmar affair in the featherweight division, with Jedah Mae Soriano going home with the gold while Oo Maw Maw took home the silver.

Abegail Abad won the event’s welterweight division, with the Filipino defeating Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Cuc.

The third day of Arnis will feature the Anyo form of the sport, with four medals at stake for both traditional and non-traditional open weapon events.
