December 9, 2019 – The Philippine sailing team clinched the third gold of the sailing tournament at the Subic Bay Yacht Club in Zambales on Monday.
The six-man team, composed of Joel Mejarito, Ridgely Balladares, Rubin Cruz Jr., Whok Dimapilis, Richly Magsanay, and Edgar Villapana defeated Singapore in the mixed keelboat match racing.
Mejarito and company did not let the Singaporeans take any lead or point in the two races, which the Filipinos both clinched.
Thailand claims the bronze medal in the battle for third place, sweeping Malaysia 2-0.
