DALLAS — One of boxing’s most emancipated fights is finally going to happen.
Welterweight kings Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr will unify the star-studded division this July 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Both fighters announced the blockbuster encounter via their respective social media accounts.
“The wait is over,” Crawford said while Spence added “It’s game time,” through Instagram.
Crawford versus Spence is arguably one of the most anticipated big-name showdown since Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines fought flamboyant American Floyd Mayweather last May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Early betting odds placed Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) as the early favorite at -125 while Spence, also unbeaten at 28-0 with 22 KOs) is a slight underdog at -106.
The 35-year-old Crawford holds the WBO version of the welterweight division while Spence, 33, holds the WBC, WBA and IBF titles. All belts are on the line for this fight and each fighter has a rematch clause that can be invoked within 30 days after July 29.
